I am an adjunct lecturer and PhD student at the Faculty of Law at the University of Sydney in Australia. My main research interest is in the use of mandatory detention, interdiction and extraterritorial processing as means for deterring irregular migration, with a focus on Australian and US practices. I’ve spent the past year undertaking research in the US, first as a visiting doctoral scholar at Harvard Law School, and now as a visiting scholar at Brooklyn Law School. I’m also a research associate on the International Migration Policy And Law Analysis (IMPALA) project, which is building a large-N, cross-national database on comparative immigration policy.
